Legendary former Inter striker Christian Vieri feels that when a team scores a goal they must take advantage of the ensuing momentum and push to attack further.

Speaking on his Twitch channel, as reported by FCInterNews, the former striker criticized Juventus head coach Maz Allegri for urging his team to stay defensively solid following an equalizing goal against Napoli.

The Bianconeri and the Partenopei played out a goalless draw in Turin on Thursday, with both sides dropping points to fall further behind Inter in the Scudetto race should the Nerazzurri win their game in hand.

Napoli had taken an early lead but Juventus pushed for an equalizer and got one, with plenty of time left to play.

Neither side really pushed on and found a winner as the two teams shared the points, with neither ready to overcommit to attack and risk losing all three points, and Vieri was critical of Juventus’s emphasis on this kind of solidity in particular.

“When you score, you should move at least ten metres up the pitch,” he stated, “playing at the San Siro, scoring always gave us a lift.”

He added that “It seems absurd to settle for a draw. A team like Juventus shouldn’t be playing this way.”
