Italian Media Highlight Inter Coach Simone Inzaghi & AC Milan Coach Stefano Pioli’s Similar Style Of Playing Possession Football

Simone Inzaghi and Stefano Pioli have been two of the standout coaches in Serie A this season, guiding the two Milan clubs Inter and AC Milan to the top two spots in the table.
This owes much to their shared commitment to proactive, possession-based football, according to to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport who highlight their similar approaches.
The Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri have been among the teams to average the highest possession in Serie A, and they have converted this to results and points, and each have scored far more goals than they have conceded.
Their respective coaches may employ distinct systems and formations, but in both cases the intention is to control matches and to create many chances, ensuring maximum points over the course of the season.
At Inter, this marks something of a departure from the counter-attacking style favoured by Antonio Conte last campaign, but it has brought concrete results and success to the team.
As Pioli did when he arrived at Milan, Inzaghi identified his team as having the capacity to play fluid attacking football with a focus on high pressing and ball retention as well as quick routes to goal, and as with his counterpart, the Nerazzurri boss has found great success.
