AC Milan head coach Stefano Pioli feels that Inter are still the team with the best chance of winning the Serie A title this season.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, the coach emphasized that he still feels that the Nerazzurri are ahead of the rest of the back despite falling behind in the table, albeit with games in hand.

Milan defeated Venezia 3-0 this afternoon to go top of the table, at least until Inter host Lazio later this evening.

This takes the Rossoneri’s points total to 48 after twenty matches played, and they look confident enough to potentially fight for the title all the way.

Pioli believes that his team has what it takes, but he doesn’t want to get preoccupied with the table or look too far ahead, as he still feels that the Nerazzurri are formidable as front-runners to defend their Scudetto crown from last season.

“We’re not thinking about the table,” he said, “it’s clearly important to note that some teams have games in hand.”

He added that “I read Max Allegri’s statements about Inter being favourites and us, Atalanta, Juventus, Lazio, and Roma being behind them, but we have to think game by game.”
