Andre Onana is happy with his choice to make the switch to Inter on a free transfer in the summer.

This according to his Cameroonian national team head coach Toni Conceicao, who spoke to Italian broadcaster TMW Radio and stated that the 25-year-old feels that he is making the right move.

Onana completed his medicals with Inter before joining up with the rest of the Cameroon squad for the African Cup of Nations, and he is all set to join the Nerazzurri when his contract with Ajax runs out.

The Cameroonian has been identified by Inter as the long-term successor to Samir Handanovic, and he will have the opportunity to prove himself in Serie A as the next step in his career.

Conceicao made clear that Onana is looking forward to his new challenge, and expressed hope that the 25-year-old can successfully make the step up in his new environment.

“He told me he was very happy,” he stated. “I wish him all the best. I hope that he will be a success in Italian football with Inter because he has all the skills to succeed. He is happy and he feels good.”

The coach added that “I hope he will be able to establish himself in the team and that his form will also be good on an individual level.”

“It is always important that a player is confident in his abilities when he plays for the national team,” he continued.

“I knew he has been close to signing for Inter for some time,” Conceicao went on, “despite links to other teams, the truth is that now he has signed and there isn’t much to add.”

The coach concluded that “He is happy and will continue his development as a professional. When a player is as calm as he is, it means that he is sure that he will be able to do well in the future.”
