Inter Vice-President Javier Zanetti finds his role as a club executive to be a significant responsibility.

Speaking to Lega Serie A’s YouTube channel, the Nerazzurri legend spoke about the transition from his playing career to his current role at the club, and also emphasized the hunger within the team to defend last season’s Scudetto crown.

Zanetti is one of Inter’s most iconic players ever, having made nearly a thousand appearances in Nerazzurri colours and captaining the team to every trophy available.

The Argentine has not stopped at making a great contribution to Inter on the pitch, however, and has taken on the role of Vice-President, seeing the team win the Scudetto from this position for the first time last season.

This time around, the Nerazzurri are once again top of the Serie A table, and Zanetti is hoping that they can do it all over again.

“Inter is a family for me,” he stated, “it’s part of me. I arrived here 25 years ago to start a journey and I am proud to have been captain as I am proud now to be Vice-President of the club.”

“When I was appointed I knew it would be a great responsibility,” he went on. “I also knew I had to broaden my perspective, be able to look at how things work from 360 degrees.”

He explained that “It’s not just what happens on the pitch that matters, but also everything else around it.”
