Legendary former Juventus and Inter midfielder Marco Tardelli feels that Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella has the personality to impose himself on games.

Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, the 67-year-old emphasized the view that Barella can become calmer as he gains experience.

Barella has rarely looked like he hasn’t been up for the challenge of playing at a high level, either at Cagliari or since moving to the Nerazzurri during the summer of 2019.

The 24-year-old shows effort and workrate as well as a desire to be on the ball, an attitude of positivity and assurance that is impressive given his age.

Occasionally the midfielder’s attitude has spilled over into hot-headedness, such as in the case of his red card against Real Madrid in the Champions League, but for Tardelli this is something that he will cut out of his game as time goes by.

“Barella has great personality,” he stated, “he times his tackles well, sometimes he is a little too impetuous but this is something that he will learn to contain with more experience.”
