Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi is ready to shift focus from Serie A to the Supercoppa Italian after beating Lazio yesterday evening.

Speaking to InterTV after yesterday’s win at the San Siro, the coach emphasized getting ready for the Supercoppa clash with Juventus which is only a few days away.

Inter made their return from the break against the Biancocelesti, having missed their first match scheduled for January after their Serie A fixture with Bologna was postponed due to COVID cases in the latter’s squad.

The Nerazzurri made it eight wins in eight in the league with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Lazio, but they will have little time to celebrate as now they must start preparing for Wednesday’s clash with Juventus.

The Supercoppa match against the Bianconeri gives Inzaghi his first opportunity to secure a trophy with Inter, and he is already concentrating on doing everything to win.

“We have two days to prepare for that match in the best way possible,” he stated, “we’ll enjoy this victory and then we will start to concentrate on Wednesday.”

The coach conceded that his team got in a mix-up with Lazio’s equalizing goal during the first half of yesterday’s match, stating that “The defensive phase is the responsibility of everyone, starting with the attackers.”

“Today we could have been more careful with the goal,” he went on, “but we were back playing for the first time after twenty days and it wasn’t easy. It was crucial for us to win tonight.”

Of Milan Skriniar’s winner, he stated that “This is something I ask from him, D’Ambrosio and Dimarco have also scored from the wide centre-back positions.”

“These players give me total satisfaction,” he emphasized. “We played against a team that are very fit, but we never lost our shape and we deserved the victory.”

“They played very well,” he said of the Biancocelesti, “but looking at the statistics, I think the victory is more than deserved. It wasn’t easy today and I’m very pleased.”
