Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi wants to follow up the win against Lazio with another important victory, over Juventus in the Supercoppa Italiana.

Speaking in a press conference after the win over the Biancocelesti, as reported by FCInterNews, the coach looked ahead to Wednesday’s clash as an important opportunity to win silverware.

Inter got a winning start to 2022, winning their first match back from the winter break and taking their winning streak in Serie A to eight in a row.

The Biancocelesti were not straightforward opposition, but Inzaghi saw his team do more than enough to take three points away and reclaim their spot at the top of the Serie A table.

Inter will have to change their focus temporarily, however, as they are set to take on the Bianconeri in the Supercoppa over the week, and he is ready to get his team to give their all in that match.

“I don’t know who is the favourite,” he said of the Supercoppa clash. “I can only say that it is the first trophy on offer for the season, we are playing against a great team who got an excellent win today in Rome.”

He added that “It will be a game where both teams are in it, and it will be the last match for a while that our fans are able to enjoy, so we want to give them a great night.”

“I have to congratulate the guys because returning after twenty days away wasn’t easy,” he stated. “We faced a strong team who were well-organized on the pitch.”

“I think it is a hard-fought but deserved victory based on what I saw on the pitch,” he added.

Of defender Alessandro Bastoni, the coach stated that “He is a champion of Europe, a champion in his DNA. It is expected that he sometimes needed to be rotated out earlier in the season, he had a tough summer at the Euros and needed time to recover.”

“Now I am happy to say that he misses few games,” he went on of the defender.

Of the goals scored by defenders Bastoni and Milan Skriniar he said that “It means that everyone is getting involved.”

“Perhaps Lautaro was just offside by a toe when he scored, but it’s a great asset for us that when the forwards don’t score, other players find goals,” he added.

On what it will take to win the Scudetto, he stated that “We will have to be as strong as we were across the first half of the season, because we know that Milan, Napoli, and Atalanta won’t give up.”

And on whether he feels that he needs attacking signings, Inzaghi replied that “No, I have quality options to choose from, I’m paid to make the right choices and I have to get the best out of them.”
