Inter defender Milan Skriniar isn’t hiding from responsibility for his role in the goal that the Nerazzurri conceded against Lazio this evening.

Speaking to InterTV after the match, the 26-year-old emphasized that the error that gifted Biancocelesti striker Ciro Immobile an easy finish to temporarily equalize was a collective mistake.

In the end, the goal that Inter conceded did not have any bearing on the result, as Skriniar himself headed home a winner during the second half to make sure that the team took all three points from the clash.

However, the mix-up at the back made things nervier than they needed to be, and the Slovenian knows that it was an error that could have been costlier.

Goalkeeper Samir Handanovic allowed Ciro Immobile to get to a pass over the top and score, but the defenders and the entire team also misread the situation to allow the striker through, and Skriniar is aware that this was a mistake.

“We made a mistake, not just the defenders,” he said. “The whole team, someone could have cut out the ball.”

“I could have gotten to it, but I though Samir or Stefan would,” he added, “and they also got the situation wrong. It’s a mistake of the whole team, we could have done better but even today we showed our character.”

Of teammate Alessandro Bastoni’s goal, he stated that “I know Basto has a wonderful left foot, he has already put in many wonderful crosses, so I’m very happy for him.”

Asked whether he’d offer to buy Bastoni dinner, Skriniar joked “Now let’s not overdo it.”

On the fact that he and Bastoni scored in the match and have looked a threat this season, he stated that “We are difficult to mark because of the movements our coach gives us and the mobility within the team.”

He said that the team are focused on the Supercopa Italiana clash with Juventus “From tomorrow onwards, for now we will enjoy this victory and starting tomorrow we will think about the Super Cup.”
