Italian journalist Mario Sconcerti feels that Inter’s only serious competition for the Scudetto now looks to be city rivals AC Milan.

Writing in his column in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, he named the Rossoneri as the team who can push Inter all the way after their emphatic win over Venezia yesterday afternoon.

Inter went back to the top of the table with their victory over Lazio yesterday, and with a game in hand no less, but they will nevertheless feel the presence of their city rivals at the top.

The Rossoneri have won both their games back from the winter break, against the likes of Roma and Venezia, and done so looking fairly comfortable.

Inter can go four points clear again should they win their game in hand against Bologna, but with almost half a season still left to play they will know that as long as the Rossoneri are within a few points of them their lead is far from safe.

“Milan confirmed themselves as Inter’s only real rivals at the top,” Sconcerti writes. “Their game was not the hardest, but they barely allowed their opponents a sniff.”
