Lazio defender should have been showed a straight red card during the second half of yesterday’s Serie A match against Inter, according to Italian media.

Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport argue that referee Luca Pairetto should have sent the Romanian off for his tackle on Nerazzurri wing-back Denzel Dumfries.

Pairetto initially seemed to brandish his red card for Radu after the Biancocelesti committed bad fouls against Lautaro Martinez and then Dumfries in quick succession.

The official seemed to change his mind after consultation with the VAR and being reminded that it was Radu’s teammate Mattia Zaccagni who had been guilty of a foul against Nicolo Barella during the same action.

However, according to the Gazzetta, the challenges by Radu alone were worthy of two yellows or one red and he should have been sent off.

Meanwhile, the newspaper also notes that Nerazzurri striker Lautaro Martinez’s disallowed goal during the first half of the match appeared to have been offside by the narrowest of margins.
