Inter CEO Beppe Marotta expects that midfielder Marcelo Brozovic will extend his contract in the coming days.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset ahead of this evening’s Serie A clash with Juventus, the executive stated that the agreement on a new deal for the 29-year-old should get wrapped up soon and also gave his thoughts ahead of the important match.

The Nerazzurri have been in talks with Brozovic’s representatives for the past couple months and talks have progressed well, with recent reports suggesting that a new deal could be on the way for the Croat.

Securing Brozovic’s future has been a priority for the Nerazzurri, with the midfielder vital to the team and the club determined to keep him on past the end of June when his current deal expires.

Marotta and his colleagues have been working hard on getting the extension done, and he stated that “As far as Brozovic is concerned, the desire of both parties is to find an agreement.”

“We are not yet at that point, but we are on the right path and I believe that we can get there soon,” he added.

“As for us directors, we are a team within the team, we have an excellent job and I applaud Ausilio and Baccin for this, supporting the coach and the team,” he went on.

Marotta gave the view that “Inzaghi’s done an excellent job and the most important thing is that we keep going like this.”

Of the Supercoppa, he said that “It’s an important trophy that we want to add to the club’s cabinet. Additionally, this is a Derby d’Italia, which adds another layer of significance of the match.”

“Matches against Juventus are always difficult to predict,” Marotta stated.

“A match against Juventus is always a special one,” he emphasized, “we need to be at our best and put in an extra effort, they are more used to finals than us. But the team look focused to me, I expect a good match.”

“Pressure is a normal part of fighting to win trophies,” he added. “Inter have a history full of successes, this means that we take the pitch with pride, but also with respect for our opponents.”
