Inter have defeated Juventus in the final of the 2021 Supercoppa Italiana after winning 2-1 at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Milan’s San Siro district.

Juventus took the lead via Weston McKennie in the first half before Lautaro Martinez equalized towards the end of the first half.

The second half ended goalless and it looked we were headed for penalties before Alexis Sanchez scored the winner with the final kick of the game.

The Nerazzurri’s last triumph in the competition came back in August 2010 after defeating Roma by 3-1 at the San Siro after goals from Goran Pandev and a brace from Samuel Eto’o.

This was Inter coach Simone Inzaghi’s first title since taking over the Nerazzurri hot seat but his third win in the Supercoppa Italiana overall, having won the trophy in 2017 and 2019, both times defeating Juventus.

This was Juventus coach Max Allegri’s 4th defeat in the final of the Supercoppa Italiana, having lost the finals in 2014 against Napoli, 2016 against AC Milan and in 2017 against a Simone Insaghi led Lazio.

Allegri has won the competition on three occasions previously, namely in 2011 against Inter whilst coaching AC Milan, and twice as Juventus coach: in 2015 against Lazio and 2018 against AC Milan.
