Inter defender Milan Skriniar has said that winning the title again is the major dream for this Inter side, according to a report in the Italian broadcast media.

Speaking during an interview with DAZN, via FCInternews, Milan Skriniar explained that the dream is to win a second Scudetto.

“The goal is the title and we are working towards that. We are a strong group and we are showing it every day. We have very strong players and fantastic staff, we feel good and I hope we will carry on playing like this until the end. Then let’s see what happens, but the goal is the second Scudetto, it’s a dream for us.”

Milan Skriniar was asked if he thinks he is one of the best one-on-one defenders in the division and whilst remaining humble, he did reveal how much he retains when it comes to what attackers go in which direction.

“I don’t know if I’m the strongest, but when I play against opponents I watch the videos and the movements they make. Maybe it’s easier to read their plays if they have quality.

“It’s not that I study them, but I’ve been playing in Serie A for five years now, I’m not saying that they are always the same players but I watch many videos of the opposing players, surely they do too, so it’s a little easier to read the play.”

Milan Skriniar feels that the defensive trio that he is now part of with Alessandro Bastoni and Stefan de Vrij is the strongest he has ever been a part of.

“Yes, I would say so yes, we also won the Scudetto. I have to say that since I’ve been here I think it’s the strongest defence.”

Speaking specifically about Alessandro Bastoni, he said: “He is my brother. Since he arrived we have always had a great time, we are always together even in the room and watching the games. We are always together.”

In terms of his relationship with the coach, Simone Inzaghi, Milan Skriniar feels that he is more like a teammate rather than just a figure of authority.

“We get on very well, but not just me, I think all the guys are enjoying each other’s company. It’s like he is one of us. He was still playing a few years ago, he’s a good person. He’s like a kind of teammate. We are very happy.”

The Slovakian defender picked out former and current Inter strikers, Romelu Lukaku and Edin Dzeko, as some of the hardest he has faced, as well as Real Madrid’s Vinicius Jr.

“As a number 9, I would say Lukaku. He was difficult to mark, thank goodness only in training. Edin Dzeko certainly bothered me when he was an opponent, he is big and protects the ball well, he is also difficult to mark. There are many, this year maybe Vinicius, who is very fast, is very difficult to mark.”

Talking about the cardiac arrest that was suffered by former Inter player Christian Eriksen, Milan Skriniar explained how scary that was for those watching on.

“I felt very bad about what happened to him. I was very scared when I saw him on the ground, we didn’t know anything because we were in Russia and the commentator spoke in Russian, we didn’t understand anything, we didn’t know anything, so I was so scared.

“When I saw the photo showing that he was awake I was happy. Christian can no longer play in Italy but I believe that at this moment his health is more important, for him and his family. Now he is well and I’m very happy.”

Some feel that Milan Skriniar can become the Inter captain in the future and the Slovakian would clearly like to take on the role.

“I would certainly like it because being captain of Inter is a beautiful thing. But I don’t think about that. In my opinion, it’s not just someone who has an armband that captains, but anyone on the pitch can play their part, help the team and be captain.”
