Inter defender Stefan de Vrij is content with the team’s Supercoppa Italiana win over Juventus, but he hopes that this is only the beginning.

Speaking to InterTV, the 29-year-old emphasized that the Nerazzurri want to use yesterday evening’s triumph as a launching pad to keep winning matches and trophies.

The Nerazzurri got their hands on the first piece of silverware on offer this season by beating the Bianconeri with a dramatic late winner by Alexis Sanchez at the end of stoppage time.

The win was a vindication of the team’s hard work and the good football they’ve been playing, but there are many bigger challenges that await the team.

As de Vrij was keen to emphasize, the team must keep playing well and fighting to win as they still have the Serie A title, the Champions League, and the Coppa Italia to fight for.

The Dutchman called the win over Juventus an “Intense match, a thrilling contest. Both teams did everything to win and I’m happy that we ended up on the right side, and we brought the trophy home.”

He dedicated the win “To everyone who loves Inter – the fans, the club, the team, we’re all very happy.

“We certainly want to continue to grow and improve, and we’re still hungry for more wins,” he added, “I can guarantee that.”

“It feels great to win like this, in the last minute,” de Vrij added. “It was an intense match, it was really incredible to take bring it home right at the death, and to celebrate with all the fans and teammates.”

He concluded by stating that “I want to thank all the fans for the support they always give us, they give us strength.”
