Inter defender Stefan de Vrij feels that coach Simone Inzaghi has added a new dimension to the Nerazzurri’s play this season.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia after yesterday’s Supercoppa Italiana win over Juventus, the 29-year-old praised his coach for continuing the team’s tactical evolution by introducing his ideas.

Inter have not let their level drop from last season, and have remained very formidable both defensively and going forward.

They showed once again with their commanding performance to beat the Bianconeri that they can approach even tough tactical challenges with fluidity and confidence, dominating possession and creating more chances than their opponents as they have all season.

De Vrij credits his coach for getting the team to this point by changing up the tactics and getting the best performances out of the players in the squad.

The Dutchman stated that “We have a very strong team with a great squad. Inzaghi brought a lot to the team, he has done very well in making us more unpredictable.”

“You can look at how we play, we attack with many players forward,” he added. “We are happy with how our season is progressing and we want to continue like this.”

De Vrij then looked ahead to the Champions League round of sixteen tie, stating that “Liverpool are still a long way off. We are happy to have gotten out the group because the Champions League has always been a goal for us.”

“But for now our focus is on the next matches, and then we will think about the Reds,” he explained.
