Inter have accelerated their discussions with Sassuolo over the signing of young Italian midfielder Davide Frattesi, according to a report in the Italian print media.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter wants to improve the quality in depth of Simone Inzaghi’s midfield ahead of next season.

There are no plans to sign a midfielder in January although that can change if Stefano Sensi or Matias Vecino leave the club this month.

Davide Frattesi is the player that Inter is working hardest to acquire, with talks already underway between the two clubs.

There are two other names that are of interest to the Inter executives. They are Spezia’s Giulio Maggiore and Empoli’s Samuele Ricci.

It is likely that the club will attempt to acquire Davide Frattesi as well as one of the other two aforementioned players. There is also always the chance that Inter will make another move for Cagliari’s Nahitan Nandez.
