Legendary former Inter defender Beppe Bergomi is a great fan of the style of play at the current Nerazzurri team.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, Bergomi hailed the attractive style of football at Inter under Simone Inzaghi, and singled out defender Alessandro Bastoni for his impact on the team on a tactical level.
Inter have transitioned into a more possession-oriented team this campaign compared to last time around when their focus was much more on counterattacking.
The Nerazzurri’s attack is the most prolific in Serie A, while the way in which they play is noticeably much more based around short passing moves and a higher defensive line.
Inter’s stylistic shift has produced results, with the team currently sitting top of the Serie A table, but beyond this, it has also added entertainment value to the team, and this has pleased Bergomi to see at his former side.
“This is a joyous Inter,” he stated, “they play a different style of football, they bring more players forward and it’s beautiful to watch.”
“I’d especially like to underline the job done by Alessandro Bastoni,” he went on, “who always seems to make up the extra man and does so with great quality. This team gives me great joy to watch.”
