Borussia Monchengladbach want a €5 million fee to sell defender Mathias Ginter during the January transfer window amid serious interest in the player from Inter.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the Bundesliga side could allow the 28-year-old to depart this month for a fee rather than lose him for free at the end of the season when his contract expires.

Ginter has emerged as one of Inter’s major targets to reinforce their backline, as he could add quality without a transfer fee involved, as he has announced that he does not plan on renewing with Gladbach at the end of June.

The German was dropped from the team for this weekend’s Bundesliga clash with Bayer Leverkusen as his club prepare to move on from him, and they could already be looking to sell him.

The German club would be willing to part ways with Ginter this month but have slapped a €5 million price tag on him, which could let another club move for him ahead of the Nerazzurri, who are only interested in moving for the defender on a free transfer.
