Inter defender Danilo D’Ambrosio feels that he and his teammates got a useful result with their draw away to Atalanta.
Speaking to Italian broadcaster DAZN after the match, the 33-year-old emphasized that even though the team are disappointed not to have broken the deadlock, they can still be happy with a deserved point from a tough match.
The Nerazzurri had the chance to extend their winning run in Serie A to nine consecutive matches, but instead they failed to get on the scoresheet for the first time this season.
D’Ambrosio had one of the best chances for his team on a night when chances were at a premium and no Nerazzurri player could find the clinical edge in front of goal, but put it just wide.
Meanwhile, La Dei came up against an excellent performance from Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic to keep them from scoring, and the two teams each had to settle for sharing the points on a night where neither side were at their best but both nevertheless showed their quality.
“It feels more like a point earned given that Atalanta played so well,” D’Ambrosio reflected. “There is some disappointment because we always want to win, but analyzing the match I would say it’s a point earned.”
And on his missed chance, the defender recalled that “I tried to aim for the near post but I didn’t score, it’s too bad.”
“It was an even match from the beginning,” he added, “we created chances and so did they. Atalanta always play their game even with their absences, it’s a pity because with that chance of mine we could have won.”
