Inter have no interest in signing defender Mathias Ginter from Borussia Monchengladbach for a fee this month.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the Nerazzurri are only interested in bringing the 28-year-old in on a free transfer in the summer and would not consider him during the January window.

Ginter was not used in Gladbach’s Bundesliga loss to Bayer Leverkusen over the weekend, with the German team appearing to be ready to cut the defender loose now that it is clear that he will not extend his contract beyond the end of June.

Gladbach could sell Ginter during the January transfer window rather than lose him for free at the end of his contract, and would likely demand around €5 million for his signature.

The German side’s recent actions would seem to indicate that they prefer to sell Ginter now rather than allow him to depart during the summer.

However, Inter are not interested in participating in an option for the defender, and would lose out on him if he moves clubs during this month’s transfer window.
