Inter midfielder Matias Vecino could leave for Lazio during the January transfer window, and if so the Nerazzurri will look to sign Sampdoria’s Morten Thorsby to replace him.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the Uruguayan would seriously consider making the switch to the Biancocelesti.

Vecino has turned down proposals from clubs such as Everton and Genoa as he prefers to stay at a higher-level club and would rather stay at Inter for the remainder of his contract and then leave in the summer.

However, the 30-year-old is interested in the offer from Lazio, who could accommodate his signing on a financial level should Vedat Muriqi leave for CSKA Moscow.

Inter would be ready to let Vecino go for €2-3 million this month, and could even drop their asking price in order to get his wages off their books.

Should the Uruguayan leave the club, and especially given that Stefano Sensi looks set for a loan move away, the Nerazzurri would look to bolster their midfield, and Sampdoria’s Thorsby looks to be a key target.
