Inter forward Joaquin Correa has suffered a strain to his left hamstring during the first half of the Nerazzurri’s Coppa Italia clash with Empoli.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInter1908, who report that the issue that forced the Argentine to come off the pitch early in the match at the San Siro has been identified as a hamstring strain.

Correa started that match this evening, but only a few minutes into the fixture he was involved in a tussle for the ball with Empoli defender Simone Romagnoli which saw him go to the ground in some discomfort.

Correa immediately signalled that he would need some attention, and looked to be in tears as he left the pitch, with Alexis Sanchez being substituted on in his place.

It is not yet clear how long the injury will keep the 28-year-old out for, though he can at least be expected to miss Saturday’s clash with Venezia in Serie A.
