Inter will be observing young central defender Empoli Mattia Viti when they come up against the Tuscan club in the Coppa Italia this evening.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that scouting the 19-year-old will be a key part of the Nerazzurri’s agenda during the match.

Viti has begun to feature regularly in Serie A under Empoli head coach Aurelio Andreazzoli this season, and his performances have caught the attention of the Nerazzurri who see him as a long-term option in defense.

The 19-year-old could be seen as a similar type of signing to Alessandro Bastoni who has quickly risen to a prominent role within the Nerazzurri’s first team despite having arrived at a very young age.

The club will be keeping an eye on how Viti does in this evening’s match with a view to potentially stepping up their efforts to sign him later.
