Inter will target Sassuolo midfielder Davide Frattesi as their main target in the January transfer window should Matias Vecino depart the club, with Sampdoria’s Morten Thorsby their Plan B option.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the Nerazzurri will likely move for a replacement in midfield should Vecino leave the club.
Vecino is expected to leave at the end of his contract in the summer, while Arturo Vidal will also depart during the window.
Frattesi has emerged as the Nerazzurri’s top target to reinforce the midfield in June, but should Vecino be on his way this month then they could move for him already rather than waiting for the summer.
Inter will not let Vecino go without a small fee involved, but should the right offer come along they would not stand in the 30-year-old’s way.
In this event they will move for Frattesi immediately, though it remains to be seen if the Neroverdi could be convinced to part with the 22-year-old midseason.
In the event that Vecino leaves and the Nerazzurri cannot sign Frattesi from Sassuolo, they have identified Thorsby as the player that they will move for to bolster their midfield options.
