Former Juventus midfielder Sergio Volpi has said that Inter are the team to beat in the Scudetto race and that Paulo Dybala can be replaced by Juventus if need be, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Speaking during an interview with Juventusnews24.com, Sergio Volpi discussed the ongoing contract situation with Paulo Dybala that Juventus finds itself in.

The Argentine is out of contract in the summer and is now being linked with a free transfer to Inter as Beppe Marotta is very keen on the forward.

As far as Sergio Volpiis concerned, both the player and the club will need to compromise but no player is irreplaceable in the modern transfer market.

“I think the club has its own guideline. Surely they will meet the agent to discuss the renewal and we’ll see if they can find an agreement. Juve must accept the requests of Dybala and Dybala those of Juve.

“If each accepts the conditions proposed by the other, I think there will be no problems in continuing together. What is certain is that Dybala is an important player for Juve. In today’s transfer market there is no player who cannot be replaced.”

Speaking more broadly about Juventus’ chances of fighting for the title this season, Sergio Volpi admitted that it would be very hard for Juventus to catch Inter now and said that the Nerazzurri are the team to beat.

“Juventus have everything to fight for the top positions, so I think they will compete for a place in the Champions League until the end. The gap to Inter is a lot and fighting for the Scudetto remains difficult, but in football, you never know and anything can happen, but for sure they will fight for a place in the Champions League.

“Scudetto? I have seen Inter as the favourite since the beginning of the year. I think they are the team to beat, with Napoli ready to fight to try to contend for the title.”
