Former Inter defender Riccardo Ferri has said that Simone Inzaghi’s side has something more than the other challengers for the Serie A title this season, according to a report in the Italian media.

Speaking during an interview with Il Mattino, Riccardo Ferri explained that the continuity that Inter has been showing as well as their ability to adapt to difficult situations means they have an edge over everyone else.

Riccardo Ferri also mentioned though that Napoli, one of Inter’s closest challengers, has got a lot of personality and showed it last time out against Bologna where they won 2-0.

“Inzaghi’s team has something more, they demonstrated it with their continuity, expressive play and the ability to react to difficulties. However, Napoli have personality. They have shown in Bologna that Spalletti’s words are arriving clear.”

Both Napoli and Inter have to contend with European matches again very soon. Napoli have a two-legged Europa League tie against Spanish giants Barcelona, whilst Inter will be playing Liverpool in the Champions League Round of 16.

Riccardo Ferri believes that these engagements will present further issues for both sides and there may be more twists to come.

“European matches can make the difference and the last few months of the championship can bring pitfalls.”
