Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski has praised the quality of the Inter squad but has not conceded defeat in the title race, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Speaking during an interview with Il Mattino today, the Polish midfielder who has been very impressive this season explained that even the players who do not regularly start for Inter are impressive players.

Despite this admission, he clearly has faith in his own team to get the better of Inter and win the scudetto this season.

“Inter have an excellent team. Even those who play less. But we are strong, and we will try to do well until the end so we can do something beautiful and important.

“We think game by game but it is obvious that in the locker room we talk about the Scudetto. There is nothing wrong with that, we want to win because we know we have players who can fight until the end.”

Players and clubs are currently battling with match postponements and games without key players who have contracted Covid-19.

Piotr Zielinski admits that whilst he would much rather be playing football without any hindrance, if there are too many cases in society then he would accept having to stop the league.

“There are many new rules that change not only in football but in everyday life. I prefer to play always, but if there are many cases and rules they say you can’t play, we won’t. We prepare ourselves as if everything were normal.”

There is not currently any suggestions that the Omicron variant will lead to a suspension of all play.
