Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel feels that he understands the role that made Romelu Lukaku successful at Inter, even though he has not yet been able to replicate it for the striker.

Speaking in a press conference, as reported by FCInter1908, Tuchel emphasized that in spite of the Belgian’s struggles to settle in with the London club, he feels that he has a good handle on his strengths.

Lukaku made the second most expensive move of the summer to join Chelsea, narrowly eclipsed in terms of the transfer fee involved by Jack Grealish’s switch from Aston Villa to Manchester City.

Expectations were accordingly high for the 28-year-old, especially given that he had been arguably the top player in Serie A on the way to a Scudetto win with the Nerazzurri.

So far, the striker’s time in London has not been nearly as successful as his time at Inter, though Tuchel is still working on it.

“I’ve watched many of Romelu’s matches with Inter and I can see how he played there,” the German tactician stated, “I wouldn’t say it’s rocket science.”
