Former AC Milan midfielder Demetrio Albertini believes that Inter are close to running away with the Serie A title, both because they’ve been the strongest side and also because they’ve had some good fortune.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster RAI Radio 24, the 50-year-old gave the view that with the way that things have gone for the Nerazzurri, they are close to being in a totally commanding position in the Scudetto race.

After a start to the season which saw the Nerazzurri drop a few points while falling behind city rivals AC Milan and also Napoli who both got off to blistering starts, they have not only caught up but built a real lead for themselves.

Inter haven’t lost in Serie A since falling to defeat against Lazio in October, and they have only drawn three matches against Milan, Juventus, and Atalanta.

The Nerazzurri have rarely looked anything other than confident and in control and, for one reason or another, have always managed to turn their positive performances into the results they’ve needed.

“What happened [with Inter’s late winner against Venezia] makes me think that the title is almost done with, both because of the Nerazzurri’s strength and quality, and because of a bit of luck they’ve been having,” Albertini said.
