Inter President Steven Zhang was visibly overjoyed when he watched his team overcome a one-goal deficit to defeat Venezia late on in their last match of January.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that he hugged captain Samir Handanovic and goalscoring hero Edin Dzeko after the Nerazzurri left it late to take three points.

Zhang has already been pleased to watch his team beat Lazio in Serie A, Empoli in the Coppa Italia, and Juventus in the Supercoppa Italiana, in addition to a hard-fought point away to Atalanta.

Venezia were the last opponent heading into the international break, and taking all three points from the clash was important to keep the momentum going with several decisive clashes on the other side of the break.

The visitors initially went ahead at San Siro, and the Nerazzurri looked bereft of ideas and tempo at times as they tried to break down dogged and organized opposition and create a telling opportunity to finally win.

However, Zhang saw that his team never gave up, ratcheting up the pressure until the very end, with Dzeko scoring in the final minute before added time.

The Bosnian rose to meet an excellent lofted cross by substitute Denzel Dumfries, and his pinpoint header into the back of the net sent his teammates, coach, and the fans into rapture, but none moreso than Zhang.
