Inter striker Edin Dzeko provided the spark of quality needed to overcome Venezia on an evening where his teammates struggled to find fluidity.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport who name the Bosnian as the Nerazzurri’s standout player on the night for his moment of inspiration right at the end.

Dzeko had been one of the culprits for Inter on an evening where attacking quality and incisiveness looked in short supply, missing a few presentable chances to score as it looked like they would have to settle for a point.

However, the 35-year-old delivered in the final moments of the match with an excellent header from Denzel Dumfries’s equally good lofted cross in, ensuring that the Nerazzurri head into the international break with three points.

Dzeko received a decent 6.5/10 grade for his display from the Gazzetta for his well-taken goal, while his strike partner Lautaro Martinez was one of three Inter players deemed to be worthy of only 5/10 along with Marcelo Brozovic and Milan Skriniar.

Meanwhile, the rest of the Nerazzurri’s players received fairly mediocre grades for a match in which they got the job done in the end but never really looked at their most impressive.
