Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella has moved up to nine goal contributions for the season in Serie A, the most that an Italian midfielder has managed for the Nerazzurri in the first twenty matches of a campaign.

This is highlighted by Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who note that the 24-year-old’s goal against Venezia yesterday evening is his second this season in addition to assisting seven more.

Barella has not managed to make himself a consistent goal threat this season, though this has been made up by his spike in creativity, creating seven goals for teammates already across the first twenty Serie A matches of the campaign.

The 24-year-old is still capable of finding the back of the net when the opportunity arises, however, as his well-taken strike to equalize against Venezia demonstrated.

Barella is far more than a player who operates in the final third, but as the statistic demonstrates, he is also a highly prolific outlet for goals for his team.
