Former AC Milan midfielder Massimo Ambrosini believes that Inter gave a clear indication to the rest of Serie A that they are a force to be reckoned with by beating Venezia late on on Saturday.

Speaking in the commentary for the match, as reported by FCInter1908, the 44-year-old emphasized how the nature of the result showed the Nerazzurri’s determination to win to their major rivals.

Inter had to leave it to the dying minutes to find a winner against a dogged and organized Venezia side at the San Siro in the final match before the international break.

The closer the match got to the end, the more that it looked as though the Nerazzurri would have to settle for a point going into the break as they huffed and puffed but could not create the telling chance to break down Venezia.

However, in the final minute before added time, an excellent ball in from Denzel Dumfries found the head of Edin Dzeko, who scored to send the team into rapture and also make a statement about the winning intentions of the Nerazzurri to the rest of the league.

“It’s fair to say that the Nerazzurri have sent a message with this win,” Ambrosini said. “They’ve shown the determination of champions, and Inzaghi’s substitutions have paid off.”
