Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi has made Napoli’s Andrea Petagna his preferred attacking target for the end of the January transfer window.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the 26-year-old is Nerazzurri coach favoured option, though it does not look likely that the Partenopei would let him leave for a direct rival.

Inter look to be increasingly likely to bring in a forward during the remaining week of the window, with Joaquin Correa’s injury leaving them with only three forwards and all three in questionable condition for the massive run of games after the international break.

The club are working on their strategy for the position, and Inzaghi has named Petagna as the player with the ideal profile to strengthen the position.

It remains to be seen if Napoli would consider allowing the striker to join Inter over the rest of the season, however, given that the teams remain Scudetto rivals.
