Inter are targeting Leicester City full-back Timothy Castagne as a backup for Ivan Perisic over the rest of the season, but could only sign him on loan.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri have a strong interest in the Belgian but that they are only able to offer a loan with a purchase option while Leicester would at least want a purchase obligation.

Castagne could offer the right solution to add depth to the left side of the team and is also versatile enough to play on the right, and is extensively proven in Serie A based on his time with Atalanta.

Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi had targeted Castagne while he was in charge of Lazio, and the Belgian could be very well-suited to the coach’s preferred style of play.

However, as of now it appears difficult to see the move getting over the line during the last week of the January transfer window, as Leicester are not open to Inter’s preferred formula of a loan with no purchase obligation.
