Inter will step up their pursuit of Entracht Frankfurt wing-back Filip Kostic in the event that Aleksandar Kolarov retires from football this month.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the Nerazzurri would make a further push for the 29-year-old to complete their squad should Kolarov end his career.

If Kolarov hangs up his boots as he is considering, then the Nerazzurri could be left with only Federico Dimarco to cover at both left wing-back and on the left side of central defense.

Dimarco is seen as largely an option for the backline going forward, so the Nerazzurri want to bolster the left wing-back position, and Kostic remains their major long-term target.

For the time being, the Nerazzurri would only be able to sign Kostic on an initial loan with a purchase option, but they are hoping that recent results that make it unlikely Eintracht will qualify for the Champions League will motivate the Bundesliga side to reach a deal.

Borussia Monchengladbach’s Ramy Bensebaini remains a target as well, also for the summer transfer window.
