Former Inter, Torino, and Livorno defender Favio Galante feels that Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi is at the heart of anything that Inter achieve this season.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster TMW Radio, the 48-year-old named Inzaghi as the key figure in the Nerazzurri’s season so far.

Inzaghi arrived from Lazio in the summer with a positive reputation within Italian football, but it was far from clear that he would be ready to make the step up to the Nerazzurri.

The 45-year-old came into a club who had won the Scudetto in the season before his arrival, and he had the task of keeping the same standard despite significant upheaval in the transfer market in the summer of his arrival.

On the pitch, however, the team have shown that they are up the task of fighting at the top of the Serie A table, and after the international break they will have the opportunity to build on their lead at the top with matches against AC Milan and Napoli.

“The next few games might as well be worth six points rather than three,” Galante stated. “Even if they don’t play at their best, if they can bring home the results it will be massive.”

He went on that “This has the feeling of one of those seasons where everything goes right, and if it does then Simone Inzaghi deserves credit because he’s been at the heart of it.”
