Former Inter defender Andreas Brehme has shown how happy he is to see Robin Gosens join Inter from Atalanta during the January transfer window, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Speaking during an interview with FCInter1908, Andreas Brehme explained that he has been a fan of Robin Gosens for a long time and he thinks that he can make a very positive contribution whilst he is with the Nerazzurri.

“I really like Robin and I was already following him when he was playing in the Eredivisie. At that time only Atalanta was seriously interested in him and no one in Germany had him on the list. He can make an important contribution to Inter, he knows Serie A very well and does not need an adaptation period.

“He knows what it means to play at San Siro, he must have fun and I wish him the best with the Inter shirt.”

Inter have got a very big game coming up on Saturday 5 February which is against AC Milan and will be huge for the Scudetto fight.

Andreas Brehme is hoping that Inter will come out on top as it would represent a big step towards defending their title.

“I hope Inter win it because this could be a first big step towards the Scudetto. If they win, they would be in an excellent position to defend the title.”

Inter’s February will also contain the Champions Round of 16 knockout tie against Premier League side Liverpool. Andreas Brehme is very aware that it will be an extremely tough task but thinks that there will be two great games.

“In the knockout phase, in the Champions League we start to get serious and obviously Liverpool are a tough opponent.

“On the other hand, Inter are in great shape, the match against Venezia showed great team spirit and that desire to never give up. I really hope Inter pass Liverpool and I think these will be two great matches.”
