Italian journalist Luca Marchetti has suggested that the signing of Robin Gosens from Atalanta will help Inter in their discussions with Ivan Perisic for a contract extension, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Speaking during an interview with TMW, Luca Marchetti explained that by having another left back of such high quality. Inter will be able to be more firm in their discussions with Ivan Perisic who is out of contract in the summer.

He also added that should they not reach an agreement with the Croatian winger, there is always Genoa’s Andrea Cambiaso that Atalanta are also keen on.

“With this move, however, Inter puts itself in the best possible conditions to be able to negotiate the renewal of Perisic. And if the agreement with the Croatian does not arrive, they always like Cambiaso, on which of course Atalanta has also launched, given that the boy not only has a great future but his contract is expiring in 2023.”

The other transfer that Luca Marchetti discussed was the potential loan signing of Felipe Caicedo from Genoa this January.

There is reportedly a hitch in that deal regarding how much Inter wants to spend but should that be sorted, the deal will go through very quickly.

“Then there is the Caicedo operation to be defined: Inter do not intend to spend more than what they spent on Sensi, missing something to get to the remuneration agreed with Genoa.

“At the moment they are working to unblock the situation at an economic level, then the boy will be free to undergo medical examinations and to arrive on loan for the Nerazzurri.”
