Italian journalist and former footballer Antonio Di Gennaro has praised Inter sporting CEO Beppe Marotta for his work in difficult conditions, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Speaking during an interview with TMW Radio, Antonio Di Gennaro explained that in a difficult financial period Beppe Marotta coped very well with the losses of Antonio Conte, Achraf Hakimi, and Romelu Lukaku.

“Marotta was able to manage a moment of economic difficulty and, despite losing Conte, Lukaku and Hakimi, they replaced them in a big way.”

It is Beppe Marotta who is largely credited with the swift appointment of Simone Inzaghi as coach after Antonio Conte walked away from the club. He also then managed to sign Edin Dzeko and Denzel Dumfries who have been successful so far at Inter.

When asked if the signing of Felipe Caicedo is a good one for Inter, Antonio Di Gennaro likened him to a former Inter player and suggested that the Colombian will be useful.

“Yes, a bit like Altafini, but Caicedo could be useful to the cause.”

He is expected to join the club today on a loan deal from Genoa.
