Inter midfielder Nicolo Barella will be suspended for both legs of Inter’s Champions League Round of 16 tie against Liverpool, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport today, the Italian midfielder will be suspended for the next two European matches which means the two games against Premier League side Liverpool.

He was shown a red card in the final group game earlier this season against Real Madrid when he lashed out at Brazilian defender Eder Militao.

Inter and the player have had to wait until now to find out if UEFA were going to allow him to only be suspended for one match or if it would be two matches.

The second leg of the tie is not until 8 March which means that new signing Robin Gosens may be fit to feature for Simone Inzaghi’s side as he should have recovered by then.
