UEFA has officially announced that Nicolo Barella will be suspended for both of Inter’s matches against Liverpool in the Champions League, according to a report in the Italian media.

As has been reported by FCInternews today, UEFA has confirmed to Inter that the Italian midfielder will be banned for the next two UEFA competition matches after he was shown a straight red card in the final group game this season against Real Madrid.

Inter had hoped that he would only be given a one match ban meaning he could still play in the second leg of the Round of 16 tie against Premier League side Liverpool.

He was given the red card for lashing out at Brazilian defender Eder Militao after being pushed into the advertising hoarding during the match.

Inter will not find it even harder to knock Liverpool out of the competition as they will be without one of their best players.
