Antonio Cassano: “Signing Robin Gosens For €25M Is A Masterstroke By Inter Sporting Director Piero Ausilio”

Legendary former Inter, Roma, and Real Madrid striker Antonio Cassano feels that the Nerazzurri have done an excellent piece of business by signing Robin Gosens from Atalanta.

Speaking on Christian Vieri’s Twitch channel, as reported by FCInter1908, the 39-year-old highlighted the work of Nerazzurri Sporting Director Piero Ausilio to get the deal done for the 27-year-old.

Inter moved very quickly to sign Gosens, having targeted a number of players throughout the January transfer window to reinforce the left side of the team.

However, within a few days of initial reports that the Nerazzurri were ready to move for the German, they were able to officially announce his arrival, on an initial loan deal and then eventually on a permanent basis.

In Gosens, the Nerazzurri have signed a player who can hold down the left-sided wing-back role for seasons to come, and is of even greater quality than the other players they have been linked with throughout the window.

“Inter made the most brilliant signing of the window,” Cassano stated. “Ausilio made a masterstroke by signing Gosens for €25 million.”

“But then Inter also made clear that they’re still offering a new deal to Perisic, they’re not kicking him out because they signed Gosens,” he added.

Cassano predicted that “If the German plays like he did for Atalanta he will be great. The only doubt I have is the fact that he is leaving Gasperini, but I like him a lot.”

He also said of incoming striker Felipe Caicedo that “I like him a lot, he’s someone I’d look to. Now Inzaghi can have a direct replacement to put on for Dzeko if he’s having an off day.”

He concluded that “Inter are building from a base placed by Spalletti.”
