New Inter striker Felipe Caicedo is looking forward to working with Simone Inzaghi once again now that he has officially joined the Nerazzurri on loan for the rest of the season.

Speaking to InterTV, the Ecuadorian emphasized the role that the Nerazzurri coach played in convincing him and the club to make the signing happen, and expressed his happiness at becoming an Inter player.

Caicedo left Lazio this summer after Inzaghi departed as head coach to join Inter, with the 33-year-old making the switch to Genoa.

However, the striker has not so far found the kind of form in Liguria that he had shown in his four years at the Biancocelesti playing under Inzaghi.

The Inter coach will hope that they can enjoy the same kind of chemistry together that they did in the Italian capital, as he has brought the player in to make an instant impact and bolster the attack in the absence of the injured Joaquin Correa.

“I’m very excited,” Caicedo said, “I want to do well here, first of all thanks to coach Inzaghi who did everything to bring me here.”

“I’m very happy and I can’t wait to start training and playing with Inter,” he continued. “I’m very proud to be able to represent my country, and on being the first Ecuadorian player here at Inter. I’m very happy and I expect to succeed.”

Of his relationship with Inzaghi, the striker stated that “I worked with him for four years at Lazio and now we meet once again here at Inter.”

“He played a crucial role,” Caicedo added, “he convinced me immediately so I thank him and I can’t wait to start training with him.”

“I talked to Tucu and he gave me an idea of what to expect,” he said of former Lazio teammate Correa. “I can’t wait to see him again, we were partners up front for three years at Lazio and I’m sure he missed me too, I’m happy to play alongside him again.”

On his propensity for scoring important late goals with Lazio and whether he expects to repeat it at Inter, the Ecuadorian reflected, “Let’s hope so, I’m hoping for the best.”

“I work to get goals for the team, and if they come before the ninetieth minute then that’s even better!” he added.

And on his message to Inter fans, Caicedo said “Thanks everyone! I can’t wait to get to work immediately, Forza Inter!”
