On-loan Basel striker Sebastiano Esposito is hoping that he can eventually make a return to his parent club Inter.

Speaking to Swiss news outlet bazonline.ch, the 19-year-old emphasized his desire to eventually play for the Nerazzurri again, and spoke about the importance that the club still has for him.

Esposito has been out on loan with Swiss giants Basel, having spent last season on loan in Serie B with SPAL and then Venezia who he helped to get promoted to Serie A.

The teenager has not yet managed to nail down a place for himself at Inter, although he did spend the 2019-20 season as part of the squad and made occasional appearances.

For him, returning to Inter is still an ambition, and he is hoping that as he grows and experiences more success away from the Nerazzurri, it can lead him back to his old club as a more mature player.

“I had the date of my first Serie A goal tattooed on my thigh,” he reflected, “December 21, 2019.”

He went on that “It was a dream moment that I will never forget. My parents were at the stadium and the first thing I did was hug and kiss my mother after the final whistle.”

“When you’re that young, you don’t realize what’s happening because it all happens so fast,” he added. “Now I know why I was loaned out.”

“With a team that wants to become champions and win the Champions League, and which has strikers like Lukaku, the road is very long,” the young striker explained.

“But at first I had to learn to understand and accept it,” he reflected. “In the meantime, I’m ready to take all the stops along this journey, with an aim of eventually returning to Inter and playing regularly.”
