Inter have appealed the decision by the sporting authorities in Italy to postpone their January 6 Serie A clash with Bologna rather than award them a 3-0 win.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the Nerazzurri have appealed the decision made ten days ago.

Bologna did not show up to their match against Inter in Emilia-Romagna due to an order from their regional health authority not to attend because of a high number of COVID cases in their squad.

However, the Nerazzurri did show up to the match and took to the pitch for the first half despite the lack of an opponent present.

The Lega Serie A did not officially cancel the match, so per the regulations the initial result should have been declared a 3-0 win to the Nerazzurri via forfeiture, but the sporting authorities instead decided to postpone the clash.

Decisions on the other three Serie A matches not played that day for similar reasons are expected tomorrow, but in the case of Inter’s match against Bologna, the authorities deemed the Rossoblu’s actions to be sufficiently justified by the health authorities’ order that they have already made their decision.

However, the Nerazzurri feel that they should be awarded the 3-0 win instead, and that Bologna can further appeal should they wish to.
