Italian journalist Massimo Marianella believes that the addition of Robin Gosens makes perfect sense given the style of play that Inter employ.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, Marianella emphasized the natural fit between the 27-year-old and Inter given his suitability to the wing-back roll in the Nerazzurri’s team.

Inter have played with wing-backs for the past several season, with former coach Antonio Conte using the wide players as a prominent attacking outlet, and Simone Inzaghi continuing on in this vein.

Inzaghi expects his wing-backs to cover significant ground and also show end product in the final third, and these are qualities that Gosens has already exhibited for club and country.

The German has played the wing-back roll during his entire time at Atalanta under Gian Piero Gasperini, and looks set to continue on in the same vein at Inter with Inzaghi liking to use the same kind of role in his tactical setup.

Marianella feels that the 27-year-old is “A great signing. For the moment we won’t be able to see him because of injuries, but when he’s fit he’s world class. He’s perfect for how this Nerazzurri side play.”
