Former Inter defender Daniele Adani feels that Inter have made a shrewd addition in the form of Felipe Caicedo who has joined on loan from Genoa for the rest of the season.
Speaking to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, Adani gave the view that Caicedo is a perfect “twelfth man” to have in the squad while he also praised the signing of Robin Gosens from Atalanta.
Caicedo worked effectively for four seasons at Lazio together with Simone Inzaghi, and he had been a target to follow his Biancocelesti coach to Inter in the summer.
The Nerazzurri did not sign the Ecuadorian in the summer and he moved to Genoa instead, but he was the first name on their list to bolster the attacking options until the end of the campaign with Joaquin Correa currently out injured.
Adani believes that the 33-year-old can very effectively complete the squad, stating that “Caicedo was the best ‘twelfth man’ in Serie A under Inzaghi at Lazio.”
“Additionally, he knows how to work with his back to the goal, which only Dzeko really knows how to do in the current squad,” he added.
“I’ve always considered Inter favourites,” Adani said of the Scudetto race, “and in Gosens they’ve made an excellent signing, even if he is injured.”
And on the Champions League clash with Liverpool, he predicted that “Inzaghi’s team won’t shy away from a battle against Liverpool, even if the Reds are superior to them.”
“Inter have grown a lot and there is a unity of purpose between the coach, the staff, and all the players,” he added.
