Inter Legend Walter Zenga: “Felipe Caicedo Knows Simone Inzaghi Well & Won’t Mind Not Playing Regularly”

Legendary former Inter goalkeeper Felipe Caicedo feels that his old club have made a reliable signing in the form of Felipe Caicedo on loan for the rest of the season.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, Zenga highlighted how the striker’s familiarity with Nerazzurri coach Simone Inzaghi will mean that he can make an instant impact when called upon while not expecting to be a regular starter.

Caicedo spent four seasons at Lazio working together with Inzaghi, and the Ecuadorian forged a good relationship with the current Inter coach.

Capable of either filling in for or partnering the Biancocelesti’s regular striker Ciro Immobile, the 33-year-old led the line well and chipped in with goals, including important ones.

Zenga feels that a player with these qualities is exactly what the Nerazzurri currently need to reinforce their forward line.

He believes that Caicedo was brought in “Most likely because Correa got injured – Inter play Milan, Roma, Napoli, Liverpool, these are not exactly trivial matches.”

“So it makes sense to add a striker that Simone knows well and who doesn’t mind not playing regularly,” he added.

“He can be used for twenty minutes in matches, and Felipe, who I myself have coached in fact, is a player with a great attitude who always does his best,” he concluded.
